Special workshop conducted by award winning artist Rovina Cai

On September 7th, 2014

Thursday 9:30am – 3:30pm, 2/10/2014

Rovina was a student of Yaping’s art classes for many years and is an international award winner. We have invited her to conduct a special workshop for our students. Please don’t miss this opportunity!

Rovina says:

I am a freelance illustrator specializing in fantasy art. I love making illustrations that evoke a sense of intrigue; images that make you linger, hungry to know the story behind it. My work is often inspired by the past; from myths and fairy tales to gothic novels, these stories resonate with me because they bring a little bit of magic and wonder to the present day.

I received a degree in Communication Design from RMIT University, and then completed my MFA in Illustration as Visual Essay at the School of Visual Arts. My work has been featured in publications like Spectrum Fantastic Art, American Illustration, and Communication Arts.

DRAWING MYTHICAL CREATURES Workshop  introduction:

In this workshop, students will create a drawing of an imaginary creature. Using pictures of existing animals and creatures from mythology as inspiration, students will combine parts of different animals together to illustrate their own unique creature. This workshop will teach students about storytelling and creature design, and using inspiration from real life to enhance their imagination.
