Hello everyone. My name is Lucy. I am 9 years old. I started drawing when I was five and this is my fifth year at New Star Art.
Drawing is something I really enjoy and like to do in my free time. Sometimes when I’m bored, I just like to draw random things for fun.
At New Star Art, I can keep learning new things. The most exciting part is that each term has a topic so we are not learning the same thing over and over again. The art teacher will explain to us the history and share pictures and videos in the class. For example, we learnt Baroque and Rococo styles recently. Over the months, we also leaned about the Cubism style by Picasso and the Egyptian style. I once drew a Cubism-style portrait of my mum and gave it to her. She said that is awesome!
I also have got many skills at New Star Art. I know how to shade with a pencil or a colour marker to make my drawing more 3D and stand out. I know the concept of 1-point perspective and 2-point perspective and how to use them in my drawing.
The other thing I like about New Star Art is the holiday programs. They are so interesting and I always have a lot of fun! Mum even put all my acrylic paintings on the wall and they make my room look fabulous.
I like New Star Art teachers. They are really nice and helpful. They are always there to help me and give me useful advice on how to make my drawings better. They always encourage me to use my own imagination and choose the colours, shapes, and patterns that I would like to include. These make my drawings unique and different from the others. I am so proud of myself every time my artwork surprise my mum, dad and grandparents. They are very proud of me, too.
Art means a lot of things to me. And so does New Star Art!

大家好。我叫Lucy。今年9岁。我是五岁开始学画画的，这是我在欣欣美校的第五年。
绘画是我的爱好和我喜欢在空闲之余做的事情。无聊的时候，我就喜欢随便画点什么好玩的。
在欣欣美校，我可以不断学习新事物。最令人兴奋的就是每个学期都有一个主题，所以我们不会一遍又一遍地学习相同的东西。美术老师会在课堂上给我们讲解美术史，分享图片和视频。比如我们最近学习了巴洛克和洛可可风格。在这之前我们还学习了毕加索的立体主义风格和埃及风格。我曾经用立体主义风格给我妈妈画了一副肖像，并送给了她。她说：“太棒了！”
我在欣欣美校也学到了很多技巧。例如，我知道如何用铅笔或彩色笔进行着色， 怎样打上打阴影使我的绘画更具 3D 效果。我知道 1 点透视和 2 点透视的概念以及如何在我的绘图中应用它们。
我还喜欢欣欣美校的假期班。真的非常有趣，我总是很开心！妈妈甚至把我所有的丙烯画都挂到了墙上，它们让我的房间看起来超级酷。
我喜欢欣欣美校的老师们。他们人真的很好。他们不仅给我提出有用的建议使我的画变得更好， 还不断地鼓励我发挥自己的想象力，选择我想要的颜色、形状和图案。这些都使我的绘画与众不同。每次当我的作品给爸爸妈妈外公外婆带来惊喜时，我都为自己感到骄傲。他们也为我感到骄傲。
艺术对我来说意味着很多东西。欣欣美校亦是如此！

My daughter and I joined the new star art school online class in early 2020, it was our first lockdown. Like most of us, we had endless school holidays with limited space, facing the unknown, I felt trapped in one spot but lost in my world, agitated and restless.
For many years I was working as co- CEO, I don’t know how to slow down, is like soon the work stopped like holding a million dollars but all the shops are shut, where I’m going to spend my aimless time?
Then somehow I might Yaping, so I decided to join the online art class, drag my daughter and my son, sadly, my son dropped off in the first class, because he was yawing half the class, so I have to say, art not for everyone, but you got give a try.
First-term, I start to notice, when I got spare time, instead of feeling lost checking on my phone all the time, I’m able to sit down to do my art homework, its almost I got this new baby to look after, but when I look back now, its reborn “new me”, need time and new direction to nurture.
My 11 years old daughter the day we find out she can draw, surprised all of us, we never knew she can draw really well.
So in the lockdown, she got this new toy called “painting”, she paint when she is sad, she paint when she is happy, she paint our pet rat luna, before luna passed away, she got a tool and mind space to express her feelings.
With my daughter more change slowly appeared in her life, she start talking about what she has learned from the new star art school during her school class, she wants to apply to a school art captain, she wants to go art gallery at the weekend which she had no interest before, its new ingredients in her life. Gained a lot of confidence at her school, which made her want to do well with everything at school. Sometimes a child only needs to know that she is good at one thing, that it will lead her to be good with a lot of other things.
My daughter and I, both find the art guiding us to somewhere to find our inner strength, something we may not be able to find in ordinary daily life. Art thought us how to connect to ourselves, how to view life differently, It’s almost an awakening tool, its magic, magic to transfer yourself to a new wonderful “me”. Magic to find peace in our hearts.

我和女儿在 2020 年初加入了欣欣美校的线上课。
这是墨尔本的第一次封城， 和大多数人一样，我们在家里度过了一个漫长而无尽头的“假期”，面对未知，我感到被困在了一个狭小的空间，却迷失在自己的世界中，焦躁不安。
做企业副总这么多年，不知道如何放慢脚步。一旦停止工作，就好像失去了目标，我要在怎样度过这漫无目的的时光？
偶然的机会遇到了蒋老师，我决定加入线上的美术班。拉着我的女儿和儿子，遗憾的是，我的儿子在第一堂课，半堂课都在打哈欠，所以不得不说，艺术不一定适合所有人，但你还是要试一试。
第一学期，我开始注意到，闲下来的时候，自己不会无聊的刷手机，而是坐下来画美术作业，好像是要照顾一个“新宝宝“，但现在回想起来，那是重生的“新我”，需要用心的去滋养。
我 11 岁的女儿，从第一堂课开始，就让所有人都感到惊讶，我们从来不知道她会画画，而且画得非常好。
在封城期间，她仿佛得到了一个全新的玩具，叫做“绘画”，伤心的时候画画，开心的时候画画，我家宠物鼠Luna,离开我们之前，她也给Luna 画了很多水彩画。她有了一个表达内心感受的工具和途径。
在我女儿的身上慢慢出现更多的变化，她在学校上课时会分享从欣欣美校学到了什么，申请学校艺术队长，周末去美术馆，这在以前是完全没有兴趣的。艺术成为她生活中的新调料。
画画带给她的自信，使她想在学校的每一件事上都做得很好。 有时候对于一个孩子来说，她只需要知道自己擅长一件事，然后就会引导她擅长很多其他的事情。到现在她其他科目的成绩也全部是A。
对于我女儿和我来说，艺术引导我们寻找自己内在的力量，这是我们在日常生活中可能不太容易找到的。 艺术教会我们如何与自己对话，如何以不同的视角看待生活。艺术几乎是一种唤醒自我的工具，具备神奇的功效，将自己蜕变成一个美妙的“新我”，艺术帮助我们寻找到内心的宁静。
